HBOS Specialty Carbons - Background and History
The founder is uniquely qualified to service the target market segments based on his twenty-five year career in the industry. This experience includes a wide range of job responsibilities involving direct employment with six major fortune 100 and Fortune 500 Pulp & Paper companies.
Previous positions have included all levels of manufacturing, quality, customer service, marketing, sales, and business development, both domestically in the United States, and globally in Canada, Brazil, Chile, China, and Western Europe.
The last five years, involved the privilege of managing one of the world's leading Air Purification Groups. During his tenure there, sales and product offerings were doubled, and the number of discrete market segments served by the company's air purification products tripled. We were also a proud partner in protecting response crews (with clean air to breath) while operating on the vessels during the Gulf oil spill clean-up (actually boarding vessels for assessment, planning, and installation). He has been deep in copper mines in Chile, helped U.S. and Chinese oil refineries and natural gas plants to protect equipment, lived in the basements of pulp & papermills to evaluate motor cooling applications, and evaluated hundreds of rooms in a leading corn company's North and South American operations (those facilities currently protect many spaces). He has also "happily" spent more time in municipal sewage plants than he cares to recall, and spent a great deal of time understanding and offering solutions to the indoor air quality issues associated with off-gassing of Chinese drywall in the southern US after nine hurricanes (including Katrina) hit that area between 2004 and 2005.
Formal education includes a B.S. degree in Chemistry (minors in biology & mathematics), a M.S. degree in Physical Chemistry, and a Masters of Business Administration, as well as additional skills training over the years, including a Professional Fluency rating in French, from the Berlitz school of language. In addition to North America and Western Europe, his extensive travels in China and South America have afforded a unique perspective to the wide variety of markets and industries that utilize air purification products. Extensive technical presentations in China include one as speaker at the 6th International Conference on Surface Engineering at Xiamen University in 2011, to an audience of over 700 engineers.
In March of 2012, Hall Business Optimization Strategies, LLC was formed, and is the parent company of HBOS Specialty Carbons.
